If you’ve read my website, you may already know a little about me. My goal in adding blog posts to my website is to help people across communities when it comes to mental health. Due to systemic and individual barriers alike, access to mental health care is not always possible. Some examples of this are: Clinicians can only provide clinical support to individuals in the state(s) they are licensed in, insurance can have a lot of hoops to jump through and people are affected by a disconnect from resources (again, often due to systemic issues).

With these blog posts, I’ll typically keep it short and simple. If I ever fall into using therapy jargon, don’t hesitate to ask for clarification! To be transparent, my posts may contain affiliate links and I will note if they do. These items are typically something that have become a successful and/or useful item in my practice and sometimes they may be another idea I haven’t necessarily tested out but that seems helpful - I’ll do my best to clarify. Another tidbit, I am not an English major and I don’t feel that I’m actually that great with words, so bear with me - hence the working to focus on content, but with a dash of therapist-splaining.

While I may not disclose a lot about myself, I will say I’m a fairly unsurprising 30-something: I enjoy connecting with people over the brain (how shocking!), the outdoors, food, animals and laughter. I have lived experience with a handful of mental health disorders and needs, which have led me (along with my own work) to where I am and why I am doing what I’m doing.  As someone with a Social Work license, I tend to see people in the environment they are in and work to appreciate the systemic impacts that act upon people. To bring it all back around, I hope people can use these posts to gain mostly affordable, accessible resources or tools to naturally amplify their day-to-day routines and mental health alongside (or until they can gain access to) the mental health treatment they desire.
